What this site collects about you: almost nothing
- You can’t create an account on this site, and we don’t ask for your name, email or any other personal details to read it.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising trackers, tracking pixels or tracking cookies.
- To show live market data, your browser contacts a few third-party services directly. Those services see your IP address.
- If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send.
Our approach under the Privacy Act
The Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles govern how organisations in New Zealand collect, store, use and share personal information. Our approach is simple: we don’t collect personal information through the website, and we handle anything you send us by email with care, using it only to reply and to correct our pages.
Live market data and third-party services
Pages with live prices, charts or network fees ask your browser to fetch public data directly from these services:
| Service | Used for |
|---|---|
| api.coingecko.com | Bitcoin price in NZD, price history and market data |
| api.coinbase.com | Backup BTC/NZD spot price |
| mempool.space | Bitcoin network fees and block data |
| api.alternative.me | The Fear & Greed index |
When your browser makes those requests, each service receives the standard information any website request includes: your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string, the time of the request, and the address of the page that made it. We don’t send them any personal details and we don’t receive data about you back from them. Their handling of that request data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Browser storage
To avoid fetching the same prices repeatedly as you move between pages, the site keeps a short-lived copy of the market data in your browser’s sessionStorage. It contains only public market figures, never personal information, stays on your device, and is cleared when you close the tab or browser. It isn’t a cookie and isn’t sent anywhere.
Server logs
Like any website, the server that delivers our pages may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, pages requested and times, to keep the site running and secure. We don’t use them to build profiles of visitors.
External links
Our pages link to exchanges, regulators, news sites and other services. Once you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies, and it may use cookies or analytics that we don’t control.
If you write to support@easybitcoin.nz, we use your message and address only to respond and, where relevant, to fix the page you told us about. We don’t add you to a mailing list or share your details. Please never send us seed phrases, passwords or identity documents.
Your rights and contact
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email support@easybitcoin.nz. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
